In this lesson, you will learn how to:
- Use simple action verbs in French
- Understand -ER verbs
- Say what you do
- Make simple sentences
1. What are -ER Verbs?
-ER verbs are common action words in French.
They end with -er.
Examples:
- parler (to speak)
- aimer (to like)
- jouer (to play)
2. Conjugation (Je form)
For now, we use only “Je” (I).
Rule:
Remove -er and add -e
Examples:
- parler → je parle
- aimer → j’aime
- jouer → je joue
3. Using verbs
Structure:
Je + verb
Examples:
- Je parle
- J’aime
- Je joue
4. Adding Information
- Je parle français
- J’aime le football
- Je joue au football
5. Negative form
Structure:
Je ne + verb + pas
Examples:
- Je ne parle pas
- Je n’aime pas
- Je ne joue pas
6. Important tips
- Always use Je + verb
- Use J’ before a vowel (j’aime)
- Speak slowly
