1. Greetings in French

Basic Greetings:

French English
Bonjour Hello (formal / polite)
Salut Hi (informal / friends)

Use Bonjour with teachers, adults, or strangers
Use Salut with friends


2. Saying your Name

Structure:

Je m’appelle + Name

Examples:

  • Je m’appelle Alex
  • Je m’appelle Maria

Meaning: My name is…


3. Asking someone’s Name

Question:

Comment tu t’appelles ?

Example:

A: Comment tu t’appelles ?
B: Je m’appelle John

Meaning: What is your name?


4. Asking “How are you?”

Example dialogue:

Important tips

In French:

  • Always say Bonjour first (very important culture!)
